Resumen

Breast cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer and the main cause of death among women; failure in timely diagnosis encourage governments to implement strategies that favor disease prevention and early diagnosis. Virtual Reality (VR) is recognized as an emerging technology applied to health care. The objective of this study was to identify the opportunities of virtual reality as a teaching tool in breast cancer, for this, the technology surveillance methodology was used in a health research group. The most relevant outcomes identified little scientific literature on the subject, diverse actors for alliance establishment, funding and the existence of possible events for dissemination. It was concluded that VR is a potential area for academic and commercial development and explotation in breast cancer.
