Resumen

This research aims to analyze the evolution of secondary education quality in Colombia, considering the effect of various socioeconomic variables, among which stand out: unemployment, unsatisfied basic needs, level of economic activity and inequality. The goal of the study is to confirm whether these variables affect the results, in terms of quality, in secondary education by category of institution and by department, measure by the results of the Saber 11 test. Canonical correspondence analysis was used as a statistical technique to achieve the results. The study focused on the period 2018-2019 with information from the Colombian Institute for the Promotion of Higher Education and the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia at a department level. It was found that the socioeconomic variables that have the greatest influence on the quality of secondary education by department in the country are unsatisfied basic needs, inequality, and regional gross domestic product.
