The way in teaching and interacting with ICT can be understood in a process based on three axes: Teach to use, teach to protect and teach to create technology. This paper presents the experience obtained in the implementation of two initiatives that contribute to the second and third axis of teaching in ICT. The first of them seeks to create awareness spaces to guide children and parents about the care that must be taken in the use of digital platforms; the second, create strategies to encourage the study of IT. This project was oriented through action  research and aims to change the activities and perceptions around the two topics discussed: Security in social networks and the Internet and the relevance of systems engineering and related areas in the present. Within the results obtained from these experiences it is evident that ignorance is harmful in each case, but that, through pedagogical works, these perceptions can be changed. ICT in education is no longer just a pedagogical tool, current conditions are demanding that they become areas of study to prepare professionals with digital skills to face the challenges of the new century. Within this process of change, the Higher Education Institutions play an important role as agents that generate this transformation.
