Combinatorial polymer synthesis as a tool in biosensor and biofuel cell development and optimization

Resumen

A strategy was established for the synthesis of redox electrodepo-sition polymers (redox EDP) consisting of the synthesis of monomers with attached imidazolyl anchor groups, followed by radical copolymerization with a variety of monomers bearing side chains with different steric, hydrophobic, and electronic properties. The synthesized EDP were coordinatively modified by reaction with Os-bis-N,N′-(2,2′-bipyridyl)-dichloro complexes. The obtained re-dox-EDPs were precipitated on Pt electrodes by means of an elec-trochemically induced pH modulation in the presence of a pyrrolo-quinoline quinone-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (PQQ-sGDH). The impact of the redox-EDPs composition on the electron transfer properties of the resulting reagentless glucose biosensors was investigated.
