Resumen

The proposed project aims to evaluate the relevance of using renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic solar and biomass gasification, for the electrification of Colombia Off-grid settlements. The development of this work is divided into two stages. Firstly, to identify the localities in ZNI where the use of these renewable sources can meet at least the current electricity demand, which is currently based on diesel plants. The second approach focuses on characterizing the ZNI localities based on service provision data and, determine in which ZNI localities it is pertinent to use these renewable energy sources and, likewise, evaluate their integration as a solution to energy supply issues where applicable, according to cost, availability, and subsidies constraints.

Objetivo General

Evaluate the feasibility of integrating renewable energy sources (Photovoltaic Solar and biomass gasification) for electrification in Colombia off-grid zones, considering their availability and cost parameters, subsidies, and the amount of energy to be supplied

Objetivos Específicos

1 Characterize the localities in Colombia off-grid zones based on technical and commercial data regarding service provision.
2 Determine the energy potentials for electrification using agricultural residual biomass and photovoltaic solar energy in the off-grid localities.
3 Determine the off-grid settlements where the use of these renewable energy sources for electrification is viable, considering different conditions and levels of service provision.
