Abstract

Collaborative learning flow patterns (CLFPs) formulate good practices for the orchestration of activity sequences and collaboration mechanisms that can elicit fruitful social interactions. Despite their benefits, it is worth exploring how their implementation can be improved. The use of reward-based gamification strategies accompanied with Learning Analytics is one approach that can potentially. reinforce the participation and collaboration between participants, and at the same type help teachers to make decisions and measure the impact of the activities. This paper presents a first iteration for a model to integrate the use of gamification and learning analytics in collaborative learning activities structured following the Jigsaw and Pyramid CLFP. The applicability of the model is illustrated through two scenarios (face-to-face and MOOC settings).
