Abstract

In a Traffic Control centre, an operator manages the each traffic control system with a specific l operator interface. Due to the increase in systems in the last decade, such a task is becoming more difficult. To improve the overall efficiency of the operators' task, more generic standardized and integrated user interfaces are needed. In this way operators can rely on "standardized" interaction with the "traffic system". In this paper we present the basic building blocks to create such a Generic User Interface. The eXtensible Graphic Container (XGC) is an open source library containing the basic functionality such as presenting maps, toolbars menu's etc. The container is developed in Java allowing it to run on almost all platforms.
