Abstract

The impact of research and innovation in higher education institutions is evaluated based on the results and achievements. All of them bring an intellectual transformation in any specialized field of study, which is consolidated in research groups connected to the different university systems. In some cases, this impact is oriented to show the expected research outcomes rather than showing the benefits of effects of such results. This article presents an analytical model of data used to evaluate the impact of research and innovation on higher education institutions. This is grounded on the experiences published in literature related to the use of analytic, and the evaluation of the impact of research on different areas in higher education. In addition to the good practices carried out for data mining project methodology, the articulation of these elements allows to know the main variables and indicators that must be evaluated, due to the need to know about the contribution and impact derived of the investigative exercise that is realized in the socioeconomic, technological and curricular in internal and external communities in Higher Education Institutions.
