Abstract

The present study intends to make a description of the educational situation of Colombia. For this, data from the Colombian Institute for the Evaluation of Education (ICFES) has been employed to examine the relationship between the educational level of teachers and the academic results obtained by their respective students at secondary level in Colombia. In the same way, we analyze the incidence of the area (urban or rural) in which the students receive their training, the GINI coefficient and the unemployment rate, as socioeducational indicators. The methodology used is that of canonical correspondence analysis. It is found that in the official schools of the North area obtained low scores, while the unofficial schools of the Andean area obtained a higher score.
