Abstract

The purpose of this article is focused on making a study historical nature in order to describing the sociocultural context in which higher legal education was developed in Colombia and its main characteristics. To do so, methodological tools such as documentary review and descriptive and synthetic methods were used. The main results obtained revolve around the identification of exceptionality, formalism and hybridity as the main characteristics of the Colombian legal culture. Likewise, it was concluded that legal culture was largely influenced by academic traditions and institutions founded during the colonial era, which had an impact on their subsequent educational development.
