Research on Gender and Corruption: Laboratory Experiments in Colombian Universities

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This project aims to use laboratory experiments on corruption and gender to produce high-impact publications at the international level. The project seeks to conduct a laboratory experiment on embezzlement with students from two Colombian universities (UNAB and UFPS) to explore the behavioral factors influencing different gender reactions to corruption. The hypothesis is that women show lower susceptibility to embezzlement, attributed to their risk aversion and more pro-social values, although it is unclear which of these explanations carries more weight. The research team, led by Dr. Giovanna Rodríguez-García from UNAB and with the participation of Dr. Liliana Bastos Osorio from UFPS, will include contributions from international experts such as Dr. Robert Gillanders. In addition to enriching the understanding of the relationship between gender and corruption, the study aims to inform more effective gender-sensitive policies to combat corruption, strengthen the research capacity of Colombian universities, and foster collaboration with the international academic community.
