Leonardo Hernan Talero-Sarmiento is a dedicated PhD candidate in Engineering at Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga and an Assistant Professor at Universidad Industrial de Santander. He is keen on developing his expertise in data analytics, operational research, and manufacturing, with a special emphasis on decision-making and production planning.

Leonardo's academic interests span a wide array of topics, ranging from the health sector, management, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and greenwashing, to innovation in manufacturing systems, digital transformation, digital readiness, and teaching. He believes that these diverse interests enrich his perspectives, fostering innovative thinking and problem-solving approaches in his work.

During his academic journey, Leonardo has gained proficiency in multiobjective, multi-period mathematical programming, metaheuristics, and machine learning algorithms. He effectively applies these skills to optimize production planning and layout, specifically in the context of agricultural decision-making.

In his doctoral research, Leonardo is specializing in stochastic optimization. This work allows him to delve deeper into his interest in stochastic series modeling and to incorporate uncertainty into agricultural decision-making. His comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in integrating these methodologies is instrumental in achieving operational efficiency and decision-making accuracy.

Beyond the confines of research and teaching, Leonardo brings his expertise to the table as a consultant and process analyst. He adeptly implements a variety of mathematical, machine learning, and simulation models in real-world scenarios to enhance business processes and productivity.

Leonardo serves the scientific community as a peer reviewer for MinCiencias and the Revista Colombiana de Computación. Additionally, he is a Member of the Ethics Committee at Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga, where he is committed to upholding the principles of integrity, transparency, and responsibility.
