Juan Carlos Mantilla is the Director of the Department of Socio-Humanistic Studies (DESH) of the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga - Unab (Bucaramanga, Colombia). He is PhD in Social and Human Sciences, and Master's degree in Political Science with emphasis in International Relations from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá, Colombia); and Master's degree in Philosophy and Society from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris, France).
He is a professor and researcher of the Research Group in Political Science at Universidad Unab. Until recently he was a member of the Institutional Ethics Committee - CIE of Unab University.
Since 2016 he is a member of the Human Development and Capabilities Association (HDCA), founded by the winner of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Economics, Amartya Kumar Sen from India and the American philosopher Martha Nussbaum.
